Comic Pick Of The Week - 

Bitch Planet #1

Note the overwhelming joy covering my face. Note this wonderful comic book beside it. In an industry that's proved its fair share of troubles with women, (both portraying them and giving them careers,) it's a breath of fresh air to finally behold a mainstream publisher putting out a wonderfully woman-centric, feminist (yeah, I said it!) comic book bought to us by the delightful team of Kelly Sue DeConnick and Valentine De Landro. Pegged as a 'women in prison sci-fi exploitation riff,' Previews sells it short. It's an entirely unique, interesting and thought-provoking piece of comic book history, over-layed with sci-fi and bad assery, making it accessible for fans of all types. Subject matter that could easily be seen as 'heavy', is in fact displayed sandwiched between easy to digest chunks of kick-ass-prison-drama sci-fi. If that, combined with the excellent cover, doesn't persuade you enough, then trust me on this one... Here is a book that demands to be read.
