Weekly News Round-Up
Have DC cast their Harley and Joker?
Reports are now coming in that The Wolf Of Wall Street's Margot Robbie will be playing Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn. She definitely has the look and voice down, but does she have the acting chops? I've only seen her in The Wolf Of Wall Street, her role in which left plenty to be desired, but that could be down to the material she was given. We'll have to wait and see!
Another one to take with a pinch of salt is the rumoured casting of Jared Leto as the Joker. I, for one, would be MORE than happy with this! I think he'd be spectacular and bring enough of a difference to vary comfortably from both Heath Ledger and Jack Nicholson's performances. That said, I'd also like to see him get the Marvel treatment too! This one is a big fat rumour at the moment though!
Toy Story 4 is happening...
Pixar has announced that Toy Story 4 is happening and that John Lasseter will be back to direct. Lasseter co-created Toy Story and directed the first two, not to mention he's also the chief creative officer of both Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studios and has been for the past 8 years.
I'm not sure how I feel about a fourth movie being made, but not only do I trust in Lasseter, but I'll never bore of watching everyones favourite toys and their endeavours. I think it could work excellently now that they're with Bonnie, too!
Rashida Jones and Will McCormack will be writing, with Galyn Susman is producing.
Star Wars title revealed
Nuff' said.
Sony's Aunt May movie is a 'silly rumour'
As I suspected, this weeks latest outrage turns out to be nonsense. Despite online rumours that Sony were setting up an Aunt May movie, they've come out with a statement discounting the nonsense. They claim it is a "silly rumour" with "no validity whatsoever."
Now ya'll can relax!
DC's Convergence comic run will feature pre-New 52 characters
DC have unveiled the first details of their April 2015 comic event, Convergence. (A startlingly similar name to the teen fiction books, Divergent/Insurgent/Allegiant... How confusing!) The nine-week event will revisit storylines and universes from DC's past, with the art already featuring characters from Elsewords, Flashpoint, the pre-New 52 universe and others. DC have also revealed plans for ten two-part miniseries', bringing back the infamous Lois and Clark relationship, Stephanie Brown as Batgirl, Harley Quinn in her classic costume and much more.
It's certainly an interesting idea, even if it smacks of the 80's 'New Coke' fiasco.
