Weekly News Round-Up

Mark Hamill footage from 1983

This interview, shot in 1983, shows a young Mark Hamill discussing his future on Star Wars. Check it out for a potentially eerie prediction!

GOTG Blu-Ray will feature a sneak peek at Avengers: Age Of Ultron!

As if you needed more reason to purchase Guardians Of The Galaxy, the Blu-Ray (due November/December) will feature a sneak peek at Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Rumour has it that the trailer for Age Of Ultron will be attached to Nolan's Interstellar in early November, so could this be extra footage on top of that? Or just the same? We'll have to wait and see! The Guardians Of The Galaxy Blu-Ray is also said to feature never-before-seen deleted scenes, making-of featurettes, a gag reel (yes!) and audio commentary.

Avengers 3 may not include the iconic team

Over the weekend, a new Avengers 2 rumour hit the net, which suggests that the main characters from the Avengers team will not be involved with Avengers 3.
As we already know, Phase 3 of Marvel's plan will introduce Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and potentially others. Will these guys and gals be taking over for the current team?
According to Badass Digest, "Marvel isn't splitting Avengers 3 into two movies, but they are planning Avengers 3 as the springboard to... something else. And they're going to use their biggest characters in that something else, keeping them out of Avengers 3."
Robert Downey Jr. is already contracted into Avengers 3, but thats not to say the team around him may change. Badass Digest goes on to say, "Cap will be very busy with the fallout of Captain America 3, and I wouldn't be that shocked to see Steve Rogers give up the shield at the end of that movie. Thor 3 is going to wrap up all the Asgardian drama, and could very well end with Thor forced to sit on his father's throne. Black Widow is easy to write out on another adventure. Hulk... well, Hulk's planet of residence could well be up in the air by 2018 or so."
They then offer a little more intriguing speculation, "What if the big guns sit out Avengers 3 so that Marvel can bring in for a crossover movie? A huge, all-franchise crossover that could be called Marvel's Infinity Gauntlet or Marvel's Secret War? What if Avengers 3 isn't the conclusion of the Thanos story but just the spark that ignites it in the massive crossover film that brings all the Marvel characters - TV included - together in one film? That's the sort of next-level thinking we expect form the House of Cinematic Ideas at this point."

I know we were all considering that Avengers 3 might be the Thanos story wrapping up with Infinity Gauntlet but doesn't this just make more sense!? Marvel have the power and know-how to spread this out for many years to come, so why wouldn't they? They've already proved they can make obscure characters like the Guardians work, so why not expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe even more? Just the prospect of this makes me giddy!

Is Marvel in negotiations with Sony for Spider-Man?

According to HitFix, Marvel and Sony have been (again) talking about the possibility of bringing Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
"While I can't get the confirmations I need to verify the story, I'm hearing that there are some very cool Spider-Man plans being discussed that would help Sony refocus their enormously important franchise while also opening up some connections in the onscreen Marvel movie universe that would blow fandom's minds. Will it work out? I don't know. I would love to be able to state for sure that it's happening. What seems clear from what I've heard is that Marvel wants to be able to play with all of their characters, and if they can make that work creatively and on a corporate level, they will, and that means the world gets bigger again."

This would certainly make sense for Sony from a business point-of-view, especially after considerable criticism for The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Some sort of agreement with Marvel would certainly improve matters for both parties. Lets hope something can be arranged this time!

Since this rumour came to light, Bad Ass Digest have received some more info regarding Spidey.
First, there is talk that the studio want to reboot Spider-Man (again!) with the Sinister Six movie thats being developed by Drew Goddard.
"Sony is going to soft reboot Spider-Man with The Sinister Six, having a new actor playing a Spidey who works with the villains The Dirty Dozen style to take down a larger threat."
Huh? Another actor? I like Andrew Garfield just fine!
The next piece of info is regarding Spidey hanging up his spandex.
"Sony is going to put Spider-Man on the shelf for four or five years and see if they can develop any of the side characters into their own franchises." And if you were hoping for Venom? "I've also heard that Venom is functionally dead again."
It all sounds a bit hectic to me, perhaps thats why Marvel have stepped in? I suppose all we can do is wait and see!

Fox may be developing a live-action X-Men series

The sources that bought the news of a Supergirl TV series being developed, is back with some more superhero TV info. They say Fox is currently 'deep in development' on a live-action X-Men TV series. There's no details given but it certainly makes sense considering the popularity of everything superhero at the moment, although I'm not sure how they'd connect it to their X-Men movie-verse.
I personally don't like Fox's portrayal of the X-Men in any of the movies, but perhaps a TV series would work better? It's all rumour at the moment!

Aubrey Plaza would like to play She-Hulk (Yes!)

In a recent interview with SciFiNow, Aubrey Plaza mentioned she would like to play the green-skinned bad ass, She-Hulk.
"She-Hulk? Oh my God, I would love to be She-Hulk. Because I had super-strength? Yes, I want to be She-Hulk. Write that movie and I'll do it. I would love to be any kind of superhero or person with super-strength."
There's been no talk of a She-Hulk movie, or even cameo, over at Marvel, but its something I personally would love to see. I think Plaza would be great for the role with a little bulking up, but I'd be perfectly happy to see her in almost any super-role. She'd also make an excellent Raven from Teen Titans!

Who you gonna call? Hilarious women!
Female Ghostbusters reboot is go!

Paul Feig, director of the hilarious Bridesmaids, is currently attached to direct the next Ghostbusters movie. He's also hired his co-writer from The Heat, Katie Dippold, to work on the script. It appears that the previous rumour that the new Ghostbusters would revolve around a female team may be correct! It will also apparently be a whole new story, not directly connected to the prior movies.
Dan Aykroyd had previously shut down the rumour of an all-female cast, saying that it wouldn't occur until a third or fourth film in a Marvel-style connected universe that he is looking to create. However, this seems to say otherwise!
Feig even Tweeted regarding the news;
"It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold & yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call."
I think if the humour can be replicated and it can keep that 80's charm (hello, Guardians Of The Galaxy!) then it could be a good bit of fun. Of course, the casting would have to be good too.
Who would you choose for your ideal female Ghostbusters crew?
Check out our suggestions below!
